recently came across a video on throwing mechanics discussed by Sue Enquist of UCLA, who by the way is one of the greatest softball coaches of all time and an exceptional speaker. I will be reaching out to Sue to discuss High Level Throwing Patterns. I hope she can see the difference between āLā Drill throws and High Level Throwing Patterns and that this old school approach does not give an athlete the ability to maximize throwing potential.
Sue Enquist Video on Throwing ā Incorrect As you watch the video below and learn more about the High Level Throwing Pattern (arm pattern, hip to trunk relationship and sequence), you will see that this school of thought and drill does not attack the underline mechanism of high level throwing. In High Level Throwing, velocity is created by resistance. You must learn how to create resistance within the body in order to create velocity. Once you learn how to create resistance, you will be able to minimize the risk of injury and maximize throwing potential!

This is exactly whats commonly taught and couldn't be more WRONG. Think about it. Pick up a ball and throw yourself. Does your palm face the gorund when you follow through? It shouldn't be, You should be finishing across your body! NO WAY ARE YOU TO WRIST SNAP AND FINISH PALM DOWN! NO WAY! I will post some videos of high level throwing...what do you see?

Palm down? Wrist snap?
What do you see? Do you see palm down and L arm pattern or do you see arm across the body with a pronating forearm at release?
